The South Burlington Fire Department announced that three of its members have begun their studies to become paramedics through the Vermont State University Paramedicine Program.

Each year, in partnership with the City of South Burlington, firefighters are offered the opportunity to pursue paramedic training. This year, Firefighter Lange, Firefighter Abramson, and Lieutenant White were selected from several interested candidates.

Over the next year, they will complete hundreds of hours of coursework, clinical training, and ride time to earn the title of Paramedic—the highest level of prehospital clinician. Paramedics are trained to provide advanced airway management, cardiac life support, pain management, and a wide range of critical interventions, ensuring that residents and visitors of South Burlington receive the highest level of emergency medical care.

The department noted that this investment not only strengthens service within South Burlington but also benefits surrounding communities through mutual aid agreements.
