Wednesday, 20 August 2025 – The Starksboro Volunteer Fire Department participated in a joint training exercise with the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Company, focusing on water supply and ladder operations.
Starksboro’s new Engine 1 responded with a crew of five to practice establishing a water supply up a steep driveway, simulating conditions often encountered in the town’s hilly terrain. While on site, firefighters also conducted multiple ladder evolutions, raising extension and roof ladders against an A-frame style home.
Training alongside mutual aid partners helps ensure seamless teamwork during emergencies, while also giving members the chance to sharpen vital skills.
The department reminded residents to stay alert, noting that dry conditions have created an elevated risk for forest fires in the area.
