This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On August 29, 2025, at 1:01 PM, the Hardwick Fire Department was dispatched to a wildland fire off Granite Street in Hardwick. The fire was located on a steep side hill, approximately 350 yards from the nearest truck access, making it especially difficult to reach.

Firefighters faced extensive work hauling equipment and laying hose lines to gain control of the blaze. Mutual aid was quickly requested, and we are grateful for the strong response and teamwork from Greensboro, Woodbury, Wolcott, Elmore, Walden, and Morrisville Fire Departments.

A special thank you goes out to the Hardwick Fire Auxiliary for providing food and drinks to keep everyone going throughout the operation. Your support is truly appreciated!
