Severe Thunderstorm Sweeps Through Manchester, Firefighters Respond to Multiple Hazards
Around 03:15 pm on 8/13/25 a powerful thunderstorm struck the Manchester area Wednesday afternoon, bringing intense lightning, high winds, heavy rain, and widespread damage. The storm left numerous trees and power lines down, causing hazardous travel conditions and localized flooding.
Firefighters were dispatched to multiple locations, including West Road, Richville Road, Beech Street, High Meadow Way, Barnumville Road, Hanley Farm Road, Main Street, and surrounding areas. Crews used chainsaws to clear blocked roads, working in coordination with the Manchester Department of Public Works, which assisted in tree removals. Green Mountain Power also responded to address downed power lines.
Despite the severity of the storm, no major damage was reported, and there were no injuries.
