Old Saybrook, CT - A significant emergency operation brought shoreline firefighting crews together from across the region to combat an active structure fire on Hatchetts Hill Road.

The incident unfolded during the evening hours at approximately 6:56 p.m. on August 14, 2026, prompting an urgent multi-agency response throughout New London County. Recognizing the scale of the blaze, comanders struck a "Working Fire," triggering automated mutual aid networks to bring in critical manpower, heavy apparatus, and specialized equipment from surrounding shoreline towns.

Responding to the mutual aid dispatch, the Old Saybrook Fire Department sent a dedicated contingent of personnel along with both a frontline engine and a ladder truck to assist on the fireground.

Upon arrival, Old Saybrook crews integrated directly into the unified incident comand structure, working shoulder-to-shoulder with first responders from Old Lyme, Lyme, Clinton, Essex, and East Lyme.
