Route 15 Guardrail Crash: Long Hill Crews Pop Door for Quick Rescue in Fairfield County

Trumbull, CT - Long Hill Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, along with Trumbull EMS, responded to Route 15 northbound in the area of the Frenchtown Road overpass in Fairfield County, Connecticut, for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a sedan that had struck the guardrail.


On August 20, 2026, at approximately 19:00 hours, responding units arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle with significant impact to the driver-side area. Upon assessment, crews determined that patient access would require removal of a door due to the extent of the damage and limited access points.


Firefighters from Long Hill Fire Company stabilized the vehicle and utilized extrcation tools to remove the affected door, creating safe access for patient removal. Once access was gained, crews worked in cordination with Trumbull EMS to carefully extricate the occupant from the vehicle and transfer care for medical evaluation and transport.


The operation was completed efficiently on a busy highway corridor, with responders maintaining scene safety and traffic control throughout the incident.


The response highlighted coordinated efforts between Long Hill Fire and Trumbull EMS, ensuring a swift and controlled extrication under challenging roadside conditions.
