Shelton, CT - The Shelton Fire Department, operating alongside Huntington Fire Company 3 and additional mutual aid partners, responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a rollover on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton, Fairfield County, Connecticut.

On August 26, 2026, at approximately 14:03 hours, Companies 1 and 3 were dispatched to reports of a motor vehicle

accident with a rollover involving a trapped occupant. While en route, dispatchers updated responding units confirming that one individual remained entrapped inside the vehicle, which had come to rest on its passenger side.

Upon arrival, command was established immediately, and crews from Rescue 30 and Squad 1 initiated stabilization operations to secure the overturned vehicle. Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to stabilize the car before initating extrication efforts. The decision was made to remove the roof to gain access to the sole occupant, with crews executing coordinated cutting and disentanglement operations under command supervision.

Once access was gained, the occupant was safely removed from the vehicle and turned over to East Haven Ambulance Corps personnel, who provided imediate patient care on scene before transporting the male patient to a local trauma facility for further evaluation.

Under the command of Assistant Chief Plavcan, approximately seven firefighters operated on scene, completing extrication operations in roughly 12 minutes from the time of stabilization to removal. The roadway was subsequently reopened to traffic following clearance of the incident. The operation highlighted effective interagency coordination, rapid decision-making, and disciplined extrication tactics involving the Shelton Fire Department and assisting mutual aid companies.
