NEWBURGH, NY - Orange Lake and Winona Lake Fire Departments responded to a garbage truck fire on Vincent Lane, August 27th. Town of Newburgh Police officers were at the scene. After the truck driver backed down to the end of the road and dumped the load of garbage, Orange Lake firefighters used hand lines to extinguish the fire, and then used hand tools to pull the garbage apart and sprayed water on it. Winona Lake firefighters pulled a hand line from the engine and assisted in the operation. Orange Lake Fire Police had Vincent Lane blocked at State Route 300 during the incident.
