Monroe, NJ - In the early morning hours of August 9 in Middlesex County, Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 units were dispatched into Jamesburg for a reported structure fire at 8 Front Street. Heavy Rescue 51 arrived with a crew of seven along with Deputy 51 and immediately checked in with command before begining coordinated fireground operations.

Crews from Rescue 51 assisted in early ladder placement to help units already operating gain access to the second floor. Shortly after, firefighters stretched a handline off Jamesburg Ladder J-10 toward the rear of the structure and advanced it into position on the single-story section, working to gain a better angle on the rapidly spreading fire through upper-level openings.

Operations escalated as crews worked from elevated positions before conditions deterorated, prompting an evacuation of the structure. Firefighting efforts transitioned to exterior master stream operations as the incident was upgraded to a three-alarm response due to fire involvement and building conditions.

During operations, Deputy 51 managed operations on the Charlie side of the structure while Rescue 51’s chauffeur utilized the onboard cascade system to refill air cylinders for firefighters operating on scene. Engine 51-1 also responded and provided additional manpower during suppression and overhaul efforts.

The fire was eventually brought under control after sustained multi-agency operations throughout the incident. The Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company extended condolences to the friends and family of those affected by the fire.
