Crews Battle Suspicious Commercial Building Fire

Several Delaware County Companies were dispatched Saturday night August 25th for the report of a Commercial Building fire. PD were first on scene reporting smoke showing from the street. 53-9 (Drake) went on scene next reporting a working fire with fire showing from Side “A” of the building. Squad 58 (Bon Air) was first on scene and dropped a 5 inch line into the scene. They were quickly followed by Quint 53 (Broomall) and Ladder 41 (Newtown Square) crew immediately went to work on the fire on Side “A” making a quick knock on that side. It was quickly determined that there was another fire on Side “C” of the building that was separate from this fire. Ladder 41 repositioned there Truck to that side of the building as Engine 73 dropped another 5 inch line into them. Crew were met with heavy fire conditions on that side of the building and were hampered by several steel doors that needed to be cut to gain entry to the building. Once entry was gained a knock was placed on the fire very quickly. Command asked for CID and State Police Fire Marshall to the scene. Crews were on scene for several hours. Per the Chief on scene the fire has been ruled suspicious in nature. Companies on scene were 53 (Broomall), 41 (Newtown Square), 58 (Bon Air), 35 (Brookline), 44 (Springfield), 14 (Swarthmore), 20 (Drexel Hill). 73 (Rose Tree) and several EMS units.
