WARREN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Tuesday, July 29, 2025) — Mt. Bethel firefighters responded to two major incidents Tuesday, first rescuing a driver trapped after a crash that brought down live wires and then extinguishing a car fire on Route 78, officials said.
The first call came on King George Road for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment and a transformer fire. Crews carried equipment up a hill to safely reach the scene and extricated the driver in under 10 minutes. Firefighters remained for several hours as live wires arced and burned along the roadway.
Shortly after clearing the crash scene, Mt. Bethel crews were dispatched to Route 78 for a car fire. Ladder 61 arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
