Earlier today, Chief 61, Chief 62, Engine 2, and Squad 2 were dispatched to the Shell gas station on Route 17 for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle heavily involved with flames threatening the nearby gas station building.
Firefighters rapidly deployed a hand line and began suppression efforts, knocking down the fire before it could extend to the structure or fuel pumps. Their quick and coordinated response prevented what could have been a much more dangerous situation.
The Wood-Ridge Fire Department also responded and provided valuable assistance on scene. The incident was brought under control without injuries, and the area was made safe before being turned back over to the property owner.
