BEACH HAVEN, N.J. (Wednesday, July 2, 2025) — A woman stranded on a jet ski in Little Egg Harbor Bay was rescued Wednesday night after a multi-agency search and airlift, officials said.
The call came in at 8:49 p.m. reporting a female stranded near the sedges about 1.5 miles from Holgate Marina. Her phone was not operational, preventing her from calling for help, according to the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company.
Beach Haven firefighters, working with the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit, the U.S. Coast Guard, Long Beach Township police, Beach Haven First Aid and TowBoatUS, launched a coordinated search. Beach Haven deployed an aerial drone that provided overwatch for about 25 minutes before being recalled due to poor visibility and weather conditions.
The woman was located around 9:32 p.m. between Goose Bar and a nearby sedge island. TowBoatUS made visual contact but shallow water prevented boats from reaching her.
By 10:05 p.m., Beach Haven Fire units were recalled for safety, turning the incident over to NJSP, the Coast Guard and TowBoatUS. Shortly afterward, the U.S. Coast Guard airlifted the individual to shore, where she was evaluated.
Officials urged boaters and personal watercraft users to carry a working cell phone and share travel plans before heading out.
