The Rensselaer County Sheriffs Office’s Criminal Investigation Unit and Emergency Services Unit Cut Down Another Narcotics Dealers Operation
Troy, New York

On August 24, 2023 in the late evening hours, the Rensselaer County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigations Unit and Emergency Services Unit swarmed 45 Tyler Street in the late evening hours. The Emergency Services Unit quickly rushed the front door of the target house and made their way in to the hallway to the first floor door. With the Emergency Services Unit ready to make entry to the target’s apartment, the team yelled out “Sheriff’s Office, Search Warrant!!!” and the Emergency Services Unit did not waste their time with a battering ram to break the door down, but also took a chainsaw to the interior door of the house, splitting the door in two. The team broke through the remains of the door and quickly took down the occupant inside of the home without incident. The Emergency Services Unit cleared the whole house in a timely manner before notifying the Criminal Investigations Unit to make entry into the house.

The suspect inside the house was placed in handcuffs and escorted outside to a waiting Sheriff’s transport van. As soon as the Emergency Services Unit cleared the house, Rensselaer County Sheriffs Office K-9 Officer Delta made her way into the house and began to search for narcotics and any other types of drugs. Investigators and the K-9 Officer were quickly able to locate a significant
amount of deadly fentanyl and other narcotics, along with packaging materials, and a significant amount of cash. Investigators began to log all of the evidence while the evidence technicians on scene documented all of the recovered items. Deputies remained on scene until the late hours of the morning. Code enforcement was requested to the scene and shut down the home due to uninhabitable conditions inside of the home. The individual involved in the search warrant was transported to the Rensselaer County Public Safety Building for processing.
