Norwalk firefighters responded at approximately 5:08 p.m. Sunday to a serious motor vehicle crash near Connecticut Avenue and Elmcrest Terrace.

Firefighters arrived to find a single vehicle that had struck a roadside barrier. According to Norwalk police, a red Jeep Cherokee was traveling near the intersection when the driver lost control and crashed. Police said the vehicle struck a roadside barrier.

Two male occupants were ejected from the vehicle and located in brush beyond the guardrail and chain-link fence. Norwalk firefighters, Norwalk police and Connecticut State Police worked together to locate and remove the two patients while providing emergency medical care. The patients were then turned over to Norwalk EMS.

A female driver remained trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by Norwalk firefighters. She was transported by Westport EMS to Norwalk Hospital. A second female passenger was found outside the vehicle and was not reported to be trapped.

Police later reported that four people were transported to Norwalk Hospital, with two suffering serious injuries and two sustaining minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Norwalk Police and Connecticut State Police. Police have not released what caused the driver to lose control.
