Early morning Riverside fire displaces residents, injures 3
RIVERSIDE, N.J. (Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025) — A fast-moving fire tore through a home on Greenwood Avenue early Saturday, sending three people to the hospital and drawing a large mutual aid response, officials said.
The blaze was reported around 4 a.m. in the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue. Riverside Fire Chief 7000 and Delran Deputy Chief 2301 arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the rear of the home, with fire spreading into the attic and basement.
Crews deployed three attack lines as a second alarm was struck to call in more manpower. Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control, with overhaul operations continuing into the morning.
Three adults were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
“This was a challenging fire, and everyone on scene played a critical role,” Riverside Fire Chief 7000 said, thanking surrounding fire departments for their assistance.
Responding agencies included fire companies from Delran, Delanco, Beverly, Riverton, Palmyra, Cinnaminson, Willingboro, Moorestown, Mount Laurel and Burlington City. Ambulances from Delran, Palmyra and Willingboro EMS, along with Virtua Health paramedics, also assisted.
Cover companies from Hainesport, Bucks County and the Camden County Merchantville Fire Department provided township coverage during the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by both the Riverside Township Fire Marshal and the Burlington County Fire Marshal.
