SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Monday, Aug. 11, 2025) — Firefighters quickly extinguished a dryer fire early Monday in the Royal Oaks development, preventing the blaze from spreading beyond a second-floor apartment, officials said.
The Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched just after 1:30 a.m. to Laurel Court. Police officers and fire chiefs arrived first and confirmed heavy smoke and a working fire in a clothes dryer, according to the department.
Chief 200 requested a first alarm. Engine 206 was first due, stretching a hoseline and knocking down the fire within minutes. Crews checked the ceiling above the appliance for extension, then removed the dryer from the residence.
Tower 201 positioned behind Engine 206 and went to the roof to confirm the fire had not spread through the vent system.
Additional assistance came from Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company, Kingston Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and Monroe Township Fire District No. 3.
All units cleared the scene shortly after 3 a.m. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
