PENNINGTON, N.J. (Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025) — A house fire in Pennington Borough sent one person to the hospital Tuesday and forced residents to evacuate as smoke filled the home, officials said.

The fire was reported on the 100 block of North Main Street. Chief 53 arrived to find heavy smoke showing and residents leaving the home. Tower 51 set up for ventilation while firefighters advanced an attack line with Engine 53-50, according to the Pennington Fire Company.

Crews discovered flames burning inside the floor and walls. The blaze was quickly brought under control.

A firefighter from Tower 51 also rescued several caged pets, carrying them outside to safety. One person was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mutual aid companies covered Hopewell Valley fire stations during the response. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
