A large mutual-aid response was called after firefighters encountered heavy fire at a commercial property near several propane storage tanks.
Circleville Fire Company led operations at the August 18, 2026 fire in Wallkill, New York, with departments from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties assisting. The fire occurred at 307 Bloomingburg Road, a property used by Blue Flame Propane and New York Bus Sales.
Crews initially worked to cool nearby propane tanks before beginning interior fire suppression. The incident was upgraded to a fourth alarm with a tanker task force requested due to the lack of hydrants in the area.
Route 17 was temporarily closed between Exits 116 and 118, and nearby properties were evacuated as crews operated. No injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control Tuesday afternoon. The cause remained under investigation.
