Apartment Building Fire Displaces Residents in Norwalk

NORWALK, CT - The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 4 North Taylor Ave. at 12:58 P.M. on Thursday, August 8th.


The two-story apartment building was being evacuated by residents as fire companies arrived. The first arriving Ladder Company encountered moderate smoke coming from an apartment door in a stairwell on the second-floor. Members forced the door and discovered an appliance on fire in a back bedroom. The fire, which had extended to a wall and ceiling, was quickly extinguished by the 1st Alarm assignment consisting of three Engines, two Ladders, a Rescue and Command staff.


All residents were allowed to re-occupy the building, except for five residents of the fire apartment which was posted unfit for occupancy. No injuries were reported. The Norwalk Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
