FALMOUTH, MA - On August 9th around 8:00 p.m., a call was received reporting smoke in the cellar at 61 Plum Hollow Road, Falmouth. Engines 20, 21, 25, Ladder 26, an engine from Joint Base Cape Cod, and Ambulance 37 responded.
Engine 20 arrived on scene and reported smoke and heavy fire showing from the rear deck.
A woman and a dog were out of the house when crews arrived. One person was transported by Ambulance 39 to Falmouth Hospital with unknown injuries.
Engine 20 was the first due unit, responding from a new station that opened in July. Previously, Engine 25 would have responded from a station located at a significantly greater distance.
Two firefighters were injured, and the homeowner was hospitalized as a result of the fire.
