Congratulations to Seminole County Fire Department Lt. Chris Baker for being honored with the First Responder Community Excellence Award from The Rotary Club of Lake Mary. Lieutenant Baker was honored for his exemplary service to the fire department since 2003.
Lieutenant Baker has been a member of the Seminole County Fire Department since 2003. In 2013 he achieved the rank of Lieutenant. Throughout his career, he has been an integral part of numerous department committees and teams. Lieutenant Baker is currently the chair of the county-sponsored diversity counsel as well as a member of the Fire Department’s recruitment program. He also continues to be heavily involved in the Candidate Physical Abilities Test Team and is a lead instructor as part of the Seminole County Fire Department Tactical Fitness Team. He handles all of these responsibilities in stride on and off the clock to ensure their success as this has a direct impact in the operations of the department. Lieutenant Baker currently serves on shift in the department’s incident command technician position, which is the training ground for future Battalion Chiefs of the department. While serving in this capacity he has taken initial command of numerous significant alarms in the absence of a Battalion Chief at the scene. In doing this, Lieutenant Baker has gained the trust of Battalion Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs alike constantly proving his merit. Lieutenant Baker is also part of the Seminole County Leadership Team which focuses on making the county as a whole a more diverse work environment that is both equitable and inviting. Lieutenant Baker constantly illustrates his loyalty to the department and the people we serve through his actions and solid leadership. Lieutenant Baker is driven to ensure that Seminole County Fire Department is the premier department of the area and that it is always seen in a positive light. As his supervisor, I appreciate his level of dedication as it has a positive effect on our department as a whole while generating support from the community we serve.
