The Palmerton FD in Carbon County was dispatched to a three story dwelling fire on August 6 at around 10 a.m. On arrival to 252 Lafayette Ave., the firefighters had a smoke condition showing from the second floor areas and the rear of the building. All three occupants of the dwelling escaped the fire without injury, but will need temporary housing until repairs can be made. Despite the morning being hot and humid, firefighters were able to made a good knock down limiting the fire to a room and contents. Assisting the PFD were FDs from Aquashicola, Bowmanstown, and Lehighton. RIT crews from Lehigh Twp. and Walnutport, ambulances from Palmerton and Lehighton, and the Lehighton Ambulance Rehab Unit also responded.
