Norwalk, CT - The Norwalk Fire Department Marine Unit responded to a distressed kayaker who became stranded in strong tidal currents after his paddle broke, leaving him unable to maneuver his vessel. The individual was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident, increasing the level of risk.
Marine Unit personnel quickly located the kayaker, secured him, and safely assisted him back to shore without injury.
The Norwalk Fire Department remains ready to respond to emergencies both on land and on the water.
