City/Newburgh FD responded to a structure fire at 65 Carter Street around 1:30 on the afternoon of 8/7. Firefighters arrived and command requested Second Alarm. West Point-Air Guard-Beacon-Cronomer Valley responded to the scene. Firefighters had two hand lines in use thru front door and one around back. City/Newburgh Police blocked Carter Street off-Empress EMS was at scene. Central Hudson Gas and Electric was called to shut power and gas to apartment off. Firefighters arrived and found no one inside of the apartment. Cause/Origin was called-Orange County Sheriff Department was notified to respond with Arson Canine. Fire is under investigation.
