At 3 pm on Tuesday, 8/4/26 the Norwich Fire Department held a badge pinning ceremony to celebrate 3 promotions and one new hire.
Dennis Blanchard is a 20 year veteran of the department and was previously assigned as a firefighter on Platoons 3 & 4. Lieutenant Blanchard has been assigned as the company officer of Engine 3 on Platoon 3. His badge was pinned by his grandson.
Brian Fee is a 16 year veteran of the department and was previously assigned as a firefighter on Platoons 2 & 3. LT Fee has been assigned as the company officer of Truck 1 on Platoon 2. His badge was pinned by his sons.
Joseph Muscarella is an 8 year veteran of the department and was previously assigned as a firefighter on Platoon 2. LT Muscarella has been assigned as the company officer of Engine 3 on Platoon 1. His mother administered the oath and his new badge was pinned by his father.
Joshua Gilot started as a volunteer firefighter with the Occum and Taftville Fire Departments. He went to school on his own to become a certified fire marshal and inspector. He is a welcome addition to our department filling a vacancy created by a recent retirement.
