On July 31, Willimantic Fire Department Platoon 2 responded to a reported mobile home fire on Engine 1.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the porch fire had spread inside the house. Handlines were swiftly used by crews to contain the fire and minimize damage to the house. Before firefighters could arrive, the homeowner safely left, and no injuries were recorded.

Mutual aid departments from UConn, Scotland, and other villages helped at the scene, as did volunteer firefighters from North Windham, Windham Center, and South Windham. Additionally, Ambulance 601 arrived to assess a nearby resident's reported medical condition, which was handled without the need for transportation.
