New London County Chiefs Award 2 Scholarships

YANTIC, CT - On Wednesday, August 3rd, the Yantic Fire Engine Co. #1, as part of their 175th anniversary, held the monthly meeting of the New London County Fire Chiefs. Annually, the NLCFCA awards deserving college bound firefighters a $1,500 scholarship. Yantic Chief Bill Eyberse, scholarship committee chair, recognizes the 2022 recipients.
Maxwell Hussey of the Lebanon FD will be attending the University of New Haven, pursuing a degree in Fire Science. Maxwell is a recognized ECC student athlete and was involved in student government at Lyman Memorial High School where he served on a committee to select Lyman’s new Vice-Principal. He graduated with a 3.994 GPA.
Megan Rice, also of the Lebanon FD, will be a Senior at the University of Kentucky pursuing a Pre-Med degree. Megan is a nationally registered EMT, has volunteered at Backus Hospital where she shadowed in surgery as well as labor and delivery. She also worked part-time at the Ronald McDonald House. With over 100 credits under her belt, Megan maintains a 4.0 GPA at the University of Kentucky.
