At 10:36 AM on Sunday, 7/28/2024 the Preston Fire Department with an engine from Norwich and Mashantucket were dispatched to 6 Wheeler Farm Road for a house fire. Crews from Preston and Norwich arrived to find a fire had started on the front of the home and had been mostly suppressed by a neighbor with the garden hose.
Engine 2 assisted Engine 11 with getting an 1.75” hose line to the attic where they found a moderate smoke condition. Crews pulled insulation and opened up while checking for extension as Tanker 12 tied into Engine 11. Firefighters then threw a ladder to the A side and pulled down the vinyl siding while a fan was set up for ventilation. The Preston Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
