Oakdale, PA. — July 13 — Following a reported wood chipper fire, the Oakdale Hose Company, 6111 Noblestown Rd., Oakdale, PA 15071, responded on mutual assistance. Using a booster line, first-arriving personnel started suppression attempts to stop the fire from spreading until more resources could arrive. To help with extinguishment efforts, Oakdale firefighters advanced a 1½-inch handline and set up a 600-foot leader line.

Crews worked together to swiftly contain the fire and finish the overhaul to make sure there were no further hot spots. There were no reported injuries. The event demonstrated the value of prompt fire suppression and coordinated mutual aid in equipment-related emergency situations.
