Brooksville, FL - The Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 2300 block of Spring Lake Highway in Brooksville.

First-arriving crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the garage area and initiated an interior fire attack. Firefighters advanced into the residence and located burning furniture near the kitchen, working quickly to contain and extinguish the fire.

Additional crews conducted thorough searches and checked for extension throughout both floors of the large residence to ensure complete extinguishment. Two occupants had evacuated prior to arrival, and no injuries were reported. The fire was determined to have been caused by an electrical malfunction.
