Valley Stream, N.Y. — 3rd July — During the Independence Day holiday, two public safety missions were supported by the Department Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department, located at 123 S. Central Ave., close to Sunrise Highway. During the yearly fireworks show in the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream, Engine 341 and Ladder 346 stayed on standby to offer emergency coverage right away.
Under the direction of Chief of Department Michael Colucci, Engine 344 and Tower Ladder 345 responded on mutual aid to support the Elmont Fire Department at a working home fire while the incident went on. The synchronized reaction preserved both communities' emergency protection while showcasing the effectiveness of Nassau County's mutual help system.
