Seaford, N.Y. — 3rd July — After flames spread to an adjacent house, the Seaford Fire Department responded to an outdoor trash fire on Washington Avenue. The home's vinyl siding was damaged, but firefighters swiftly contained the fire and stopped it from spreading. For over an hour, crews stayed on the scene to put out hot spots, look for any concealed fire extensions, and make sure the building was secure.
Members followed rehabilitative protocols to mitigate the impacts of intense heat while operating in temperatures above 95 degrees. There were no reported injuries. Effective fireground operations, exposure protection, and firefighter safety during difficult summer conditions were recognized in the answer.
