West Hempstead, N.Y. — July 12 — On one of the busiest weekends, the Department Lakeview Fire Department, located at 891 Woodfield Road, responded to its fourth emergency call—a brush fire near Hempstead State Lake Park. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the fire was blazing close to a densely populated area of the park. They promptly used handlines to control the flames before they spread to surrounding vegetation.

Workers finished the refurbishment, put out any last fire spots, and made sure park visitors could safely enter the area.
