West Hempstead, N.Y. — July 3 — In order to provide district coverage as Elmont firefighters worked at a working home fire on Lincoln Street, the Lakeview Fire Department, located at 891 Woodfield Road, sent an engine on a mutual aid assignment to the Elmont Fire Department. Throughout the active fire operation, the standby assignment made sure that emergency response capabilities were still available for any further emergencies.

Until the situation was under control and regular coverage was resumed, firefighters stayed on the scene.
