On July 18, at around 8:25 a.m., the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company responded to a working fire on Sarah Drive.
Engine 1-5-6 activated its deck gun as the first-due apparatus once firemen arrived and verified that the fire was operational. Crews used one handline and five master streams to contain the fire during its peak. For somewhat more than two hours, firefighters stayed on the site.
Under the direction of 2nd Assistant Chief Michael Kilbridge Jr., several nearby fire departments offered assistance to one another during the crisis.
