Firefighters in the City of Wichita received training on the Gemtor Class II Personal Rescue Harness.

The training was conducted at the Wichita Fire Training Center on July 16. 25 firefighters attended both classroom and hands-on training on the use, operation and care and maintenance of these harnesses.

The hands-on evolutions included firefighter rescue - both using the harness as a rescuer and the rescuer using the harness of a downed firefighter. Other skills covered in the training session included lowering firefighters from height, firefighter bailout escape from upper floor windows and several other evolutions.

The training was provided by All Hands Fire Equipment & Training from New Jersey.
