Truck Fire on I-89 Quickly Controlled with Mutual Aid Support
Colchester, VT - The Colchester Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 89 southbound near mile marker 93.8, alongside the Colchester Rescue Squad and Saint Michael's College Fire and Rescue.
Upon arrival, crews encountered a truck with a fixed tank fully involved in fire. Firefighters confirmed the vehicle was not carrying hazardous materials and initiated suppression operations. Due to limited water supply, additional support was requested from the VTANG Fire Department to assist with water operations.
The sole occupant was evaluated on scene and declined further medical treatment. Southbound lanes were temporarily closed during operations, with traffic partially reopened as crews completed suppression, overhaul, and cleanup.
