Car Smashes Into Plainfield Home

PLAINFIELD, NJ - Following a two-car accident, a car plowed into the garage of a two-family home on East Second Street at its intersection with Leland Avenue at around 9:30 A.M. on Friday, July 12th. There were no reported injuries.
The car that collided with the home was traveling east as it entered the garage of the home. The impact of the crash damaged the foundation and the structure of the home, and neighbors on the scene reported seeing a woman, presumably the driver, running out of the garage following the incident.
"The crash has compromised critical structural members of the affected house, rendering it unsafe at this time," said the Plainfield Fire Department, who noted that 12 individuals, 9 adults and 3 children, were displaced by the incident. The Red Cross was on hand to assist the displaced.
Mutual aid from surrounding towns included Union Fire Department Battalion 2, Squad 2, Ladder 2, and Special Operations, Elizabeth Fire Department Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Engine 7, Battalion 1.
