On July 3, 2026 at 10:22PM, the City of Troy’s Fire Department was dispatched to 25 St. Vincent’s Avenue for a reported structure fire. The caller reported the house was on fire. Engine six, engine three, engine two, the rescue squad, truck two, truck one, medic four, and the battalion chief responded to the scene. As units were responding to the scene, the father lowered his kids down from the top floor of the home to the ground as the first floor of the home was blocked by fire. The father successfully rescued his two children from the home before jumping from the top floor of the home to the ground below. Engine six arrived on scene and took the driveway of the home and notified the dispatcher that they had a working structure fire with smoke showing from the structure and they will be deploying a line.
Firefighters force entry to the structure and had a well involved kitchen fire. As firefighters deployed the hand line, the second due engine company back laid to the nearby hydrant. Firefighters made their way inside of the structure and quickly conducted a primary search and located the family cat and was able to rescue the cat from the structure. Firefighters found the father that had jumped from the window and was able to check on him and get him to a safe location. Medic four pulled in to evaluate the individual from the home. Firefighters knocked down the heavy fire condition inside of the home quickly before it could spread. Firefighters conducted a secondary search while additional crews began to conduct extensive overhaul.
Command canceled the second due truck company and had them reassign themselves to headquarters for a standby. Firefighters continued to conduct extensive overhaul inside of the kitchen area and around the window of the kitchen. The individual that had jumped from the top floor of the building was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but is credited with saving his two children from the home. Fire Investigator’s are working to determine the cause of the fire. Firefighters went back into service a short time later.
