On Saturday July 17th 2021 the Mastic Beach Fire Department and Mastic Fire Department held a flag detail for the 25th Anniversary Memorial for TWA Flight 800. Mastic Fire Department Ladder 14 (5-12-14) along with Mastic Beach Fire Department Ladder 1 (5-13-1) held the American Flag as the family of the victims went to the memorial at Smith Point Beach. This airline crash 25 years ago would claim 230 souls on boards and would be the third most deadliest airline incident in the United States History.
