Masonville, N.Y. — July 13 — The Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Company Inc. and the Masonville Volunteer Fire Department, located at 15488 State Highway 8, responded to a reported structure fire that turned out to be a camper fire close to two structures. A friend of the home owner used a garden hose to help contain the fire before firemen arrived.
In order to ensure that the fire had not spread, firefighters used a hose line, put out the remaining flames, and performed a thorough overhaul. In addition to protecting surrounding structures, the coordinated mutual assistance response illustrated the value of prompt reporting, prompt bystander action, and meticulous fireground operations.
