This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Northfield, N.J. — June 16 — When a motor vehicle incident involving entrapment was reported, the City of Northfield Volunteer Fire Company #1 arrived at the intersection of Mill Road and Wabash Avenue. One individual was trapped in a two-vehicle collision when Car 61, Rescue 62, Ladder 63, and Engine 64 arrived. Firefighters freed the patient and secured power to both vehicles using the department's new Holmatro rescue gear in addition to their current extrication equipment.

Until a second ambulance came, patients were cared for by department EMTs. The reaction showed how an effective vehicle extrication and patient care effort was supported by modern training, updated rescue equipment, and coordinated fire and EMS operations.
