Crews Contain Garage Fire and Rescue Dog on Mohawk Trail Drive

Pittsburgh, PA - Penn Hills No. 7 VFC and mutual aid companies responded to reports of smoke coming from a residence on Mohawk Trail Drive, with initial reports indicating possible entrapment.


Arriving crews confirmed smoke showing and quickly established a water supply while deploying an attack line into the home. Firefighters encountered moderate hoarding conditions as they advanced, locating and extinguishing a fire in the garage area.


Search teams conducted primary and secondary searches of the residence, confirming no occupants were inside. During operations, crews located a dog and successfully removed it from the structure. The animal was provided oxygen on scene and made a full recovery.


Additional units assisted with laddering and ventilation as firefighters brought the incident under control. The fire was contained to the area of origin, and the cause remains under investigation by the fire marshal.
