Fatal Fire at Fall River Assisted Living Facility

FALL RIVER, MA - On Sunday, July 13th, Fall River Firefighters responded to 261 Oliver Street, the Gabriel House assisted living facility, on a box alarm. The box alarm was followed by multiple calls. Command arrived on scene and had heavy fire and smoke showing, with multiple victims hanging out windows. Command called for a second-alarm and ordered all companies to begin ladder rescues of the trapped victims. Nine people perished and 30 people were transported to local hospitals. Medical Command called for a major MCI and requested all available medical units in the area to respond. Fire Command ordered all off duty members to respond to the scene and to man spare apparatus.
