Rapid Fire Attack Limits Damage at Apartment Complex, Pet Rescued

Canton, GA - The Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a structure fire at the Accent Overlook Apartments in Canton, where crews encountered active fire conditions on arrival.


Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously evacuating residents and conducting primary searches to ensure all occupants were safely out. The fire was quickly brought under control, preventing further extension within the building. During search operations, crews successfully rescued a dog from the affected apartment. No injuries were reported.


Firefighters remained on scene to extinguish hot spots, conduct overhaul, and assist residents with salvaging belongings.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with reports indicating a possible lightning strike prior to the incident.
