Old Saybrook, CT. — June 19 — The Old Saybrook Fire Department arrived at a building fire off North Main Street to support the Essex Fire Department. In order to support fire suppression, overhaul, and scene operations, firefighters collaborated with other mutual aid agencies. In addition to providing the extra staff and equipment required for the situation, the coordinated response made sure that nearby areas had access to sufficient fire protection.

Mutual aid alliances enhance regional response capacities and enable nearby departments to pool resources during more serious catastrophes. The event demonstrated the need of interagency collaboration by assisting workers in safely and effectively managing the operation while preserving emergency service coverage along the coastline area.
