Providence Canteen Supported Lowell Avenue Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Warwick, R.I. — June 12 — In order to assist firemen fighting a working structure fire, the Special Signal Fire Association/Providence Canteen sent Canteen 4 to Lowell Avenue in Providence. Throughout the event, the canteen unit gave fire and emergency medical staff hydration, refreshments, and rehabilitation services. In addition to lessening the impacts of heat, exhaustion, and dehydration, fireground rehabilitation was crucial in helping responders recuperate in between tasks.

In order to ensure that emergency workers had the resources necessary to continue safe, efficient operations until the event was under control and units were put back into service, the reaction illustrated the importance of specialist support units collaborating with local fire departments.
