Providence Canteen Supported Plainfield Street Working Fire

Warwick, R.I. — June 12 — Canteen 4 was sent to Plainfield Street in Providence by the Special Signal Fire Association/Providence Canteen to assist firemen fighting a working structure fire. Throughout the event, the canteen unit gave fire and emergency medical staff hydration, refreshments, and rehabilitation services. In order to enable responders recuperate between assignments and lessen the impacts of heat stress and exhaustion, fireground rehabilitation is a crucial part of extended emergency operations.


The response demonstrated the crucial role canteen units play in providing frontline crews with the resources they need to safely continue operations until the situation was under control and crews were able to resume their duties.
