Westerly, R.I. — June 19 — The Dunn's Corners Fire Department responded to Sparrow Drive after a reported brush fire was upgraded to a residential structure fire while crews were en route. Firefighters quickly advanced hose lines into the home and confined the fire to an attached addition, preventing further extension.

A first-alarm assignment brought mutual aid from the Ashaway Fire Department as the rapid intervention team, while the Westerly Fire Department covered the district and handled additional emergency calls. The Westerly Ambulance Corps also responded. The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal's Office investigated the cause, and the Special Signal Providence Canteen provided support for firefighters on scene.
